Staying with my get pushed challenge from last week while adding a little b&w for the February challenge. Same candle, same time of day, this time with all the items still on the radiator. Was going for the contrast necessary for b&w. Not sure if this plays into what Northy challenged me with last week - almost feels like the candle is the subject rather than the light, not to mention that there isn't really much shadow. Well, there's no shadow because the shots that HAD shadow were reflecting a shadow MUSTACHE on the baby pic of the teenager back there ... and that was just WIERD!
there's an interesting tension in this image - between the candle which is clearly in focus, and the eyes in the portrait not quite in focus in the back... not quite what i was thinking of in terms of the challenge, but kind of intriguing nonetheless :)
i would aim for a single / simple subject and just play around with how you are using light on it, and the shadows it is casting... and how the main image and the shadow work together (or don't)...
