Showing pigs.

Today we were at the Westmorland Show. It was a lovely warm autumn day therefore lots of people turned out (the news has just said over 30,000 turned out). We spent a good few minuets watching the pig judging. This is quite amusing to watch. The pigs are maneuvered by tapping them with a stick on their sides and the use of a board, which you can see in the hand of the gent on the right.

I heard it was on at the end of the day. Never been to that one. I'd love to have seen the pigs as we don't have them at ours.

This is neat - never realized you could "show" pigs like this - they're certainly healthy looking with such pretty color.

@gijsje @stiggle @ingrid_marianna @hermann @callymazoo @elmay @tosee @milaniet @dizzyd @tunia @flowerfairyann @terryliv @bruni @lavenderhouse Thank you all for your comments. There were other breeds at the show but I think know these are Tamworth. They really are funny to watch as the pigs just go where they want and the guys just follow trying to get them to go the way they want them to.

@shirleybankfarm A local friend was taking about them yesterday, saying that the little ones went everywhere and were great fun, and that the older seasoned ones were well behaved - but not much fun! The winner was taken around in the back if a truck apparently, which is what they did with sheep near Carlisle.

@callymazoo I wish we had had more time to watch them longer but hubby had to get back to bale some straw. But I can't complain because at least I got there. Ha ha
