Autumn fruit. by shirleybankfarm

Autumn fruit.

Spotted the rosy little crab apples on my way home. I think I might have to go back and pick some to make some crab apple jelly.

They make a great sight when they are all out! These ones actually look so big - the size of a normal apple!

The combination of reds and greens in the same apple is so pretty - bet it would make delicious jelly.

@gijsje @bkbinthecity @dizzyd @maggiemae @memoriesbydawn @tosee @onewing @milaniet @deborah63 @kimdavis @hermann @elmay @terryliv @snowy Thank you all for your lovely comments. Babs, Terry and Debbie they are quite small nowhere near the size of a normal apple and very, very sour little things. They could be used as a normal cooking apple but would take a lot of peeling and coring because of the size. That is why the are best used to make jelly where you just chop then and stew them down - peel, core and all. The jelly is lovely with roast pork or chicken as an alternative to apple sauce.
