Chinese lanterns

My friend gave me this beautiful plant which is now sat outside opposite my kitchen window. The sun came out while I was peeling the potatoes for lunch and after the dull grey morning the splash of orange looked so beautiful. Needless to say the potatoes got abandoned for a while.

They look beautiful! We once had a lot of them in our garden, but somehow they disappeared. Only a few plants remained.

Right choice to abandon the potatoes Shirley. These are so lovely and must brighten your garden on dull days.

Oh lovely! I had some in the garden and in it's second year we had loads of fruit. However it seems to have spent itself and is no more....

Certainly a splash of colour Shirley. Easy to see why they are called Chinese Lanterns.

@gijsje @memoriesbydawn @roachling @hermann @bkbinthecity @flowerfairyann @lavenderhouse @stiggle @dizzyd @kimdavis @tunia @beachdog @julienne1 @terryliv I have tried growing these in the past without success usually in the garden. This one I am going to plant in t a pot (when I get one) and hope to have better luck. There real name is Physalis and they can be dried and used in arrangements.
