Crocheting, a hobby for a dark wet windy night. by shirleybankfarm

Crocheting, a hobby for a dark wet windy night.

I have recently learnt a new crochet stitch. It is called broomstick crochet. I have been crocheting since I was about 6 years old, but this is the first time I have done this type. I have already done two strips alternating the dark with the light and crocheted them together. Eventually it will become a blanket.
The weather today has been getting progressively worse, as Storm Gertrude approaches. At the moment the wind is howling and the rain beating against the window and it is supposed to get worse as the night goes on
That does look so lovely! I've never learnt to crochet or knit and I so admire other people's handiwork

So interesting. I have never seen this type of crocheting before. Hope the storm doesn't cause too much damage. Time to batten down the hatches.

I'll have to investigate this! Do you need large hands to work this?

That looks really impressive! My crochetting is limited to granny square blankets :)

@julienne1 @gijsje @onewing @tunia @tosee @maggiemae @ingrid_marianna Thank you all for looking at and commenting on my picture. This is very easy to do the only stitches you need to know are chain and uk double crochet. It also grows very quickly. Maggiemae, no you do not need big hands to do this and there are a lot of patterns and tutorials on line.

@hermann @pusspup Thank you for your lovely comments. It is a very easy stitch to do. You just have to have a large knitting needle or a piece of 3/4 inch dowling as well as your wool and crochet hook.

I used to do lots of knitting (aran was always my favourite) but crochet was like another language to me. This looks to be an interesting stitch and is very impressive. You are clever and a very good way to spend the evening.
