Much discussion

I didn't take this picture today. It was taken very close to yesterdays shot. It is of Crossfell, the highest point on the Pennines, looking over Ousenstand Bridge. I wasn't sure whether it worked or not. It is not quite how I envisaged it to look. It did however spark great discussion in our household. My daughter didn't like it - she said all you see is the road and not the mountain. My son-in-law said he didn't care for the shadow and my husband liked it. So I am posting it to see what you all make of it. Please be honest.
I think that nice walled road drive you view into those beautiful mountains . It add some to the pic.

I think I would like to see more of the mountain. Loved your picture of Murton Pike yesterday.

I like it, it is an unusual viewpoint......makes you want to get over the bridge and see what is beyond, clearly a beautiful mountain valley.

@pyrrhula Thank you. My thoughts are there is a little too much road.

@gijsje I tried higher up but the you lost the feel of going up over the bridge which I was trying to get the feel. It is quite a humpbacked bridge. I also tried from further back but you lost the hill in the distance.

@cutekitty @gijsje The top of the road is where the bottom of the mountain is. Below that there is green fields again.

I like the image Shirley, it adds a bit mystery, now what is over that hump in the road .... a spectacular landscape :))

@hermann Thank you sally that is what I was trying to achieve.

Hi Shirley, I tend to agree with you, I think i might have cropped the road a little

@garychester Thank you, I had wondered about that. Will give it a go.

Great shot Shirley! I like the shadow, to me it makes the hump of the bridge more evident. I love the idea of wanting to see what's over the bridge, and I thinking cropping a bit of the road might help add to the mystery. Well done, though.

Interesting shot. I think I would crop some of the road from the bottom of the picture to make the layers look more even. Road, mountain, clouds and sky.

I noticed the shadow - trouble is, it's 'real' and trying to recover the detail and make it match the other side, might make it look false. You could try combining two shots to make it how you imagined?

I'm very curious to see over the crest of the road. What comes next?

I do like it as I think it draws your attention inward to the centre

Great light, just a little view of the grasses and fence, unique pov

I like the hump-back bridge (there is one in my village and it has great memories from being on the schoolbus) as it draws you up and over to that wonderful snowy mountain.

@shirleybankfarm Cut it off with Picasa crop

@pyrrhula @gijsje @cutekitty @hermann @garychester @kategoring @onewing @anniesue @tunia @bkbinthecity @tosee @flowerfairyann Thank you all for taking the time to look at my picture and offer your advice. I have tried cropping it in Photoshop and it does look a lot better. I think maybe a little more of the ground in front of the mountain might have given the shot a little more depth. I will know for another time. :)
