wooden crab

Hi Folks I'm back after a wonderful weeks holiday in Cuba. Will be filling in the week I have missed with my holiday pics which I managed to take each day (such a struggle ha ha) The problem will be choosing which to post. Will take me a while to catch up and start to comment again but I will be looking at your fantastic pictures.

This is one of the keepsakes I brought back with me. There are lots of wooden crafted items to be bought and lucky for me I love wooden things. I just thought this little chap was quite cute.
I am glad you have had a lovely break away, this is a lovely little keepsake :)

I will be interested I your photos of Cuba. One person I spoke to said that she hated it as it was very poor but others have all loved it and said what friendly people they are and how interesting (which I would imagine) the country is.

@bruni There are loads of lovely wooden souvenirs, I also brought back a little humming bird which is hanging in my window. We stayed at the Paradisus Riode Oro hotel which is near, Guardalavaca. We flew to Holguin airport which is about an hour away from the resort.

@callymazoo This was our second visit to Cuba, we were there last year. We stayed at Cayo Guillermo last year which was a beautiful resort, although the hotel needed a little TLC. We found it was a long way to travel to see anything from this resort. This year we stayed near Guardalavaca fabulous hotel, lovely interesting rural area to see, much more interesting. The people are lovely, really friendly. They are poor in a way but very rich in another. They live very simply and are happy. Things are changing in that they are now allowed to start small business for themselves. Many still work for the government who have much say in what they do. Schooling and uni education is free, Health care is free and they have ration books and get an allowance of beans, rice, toothpaste soap etc each month per family at reduced prices. We will certainly go back again in the future.
