Holker Hall by shirleybankfarm

Holker Hall

Last night we were at the evening reception of a friend's son. As it was at a hotel approx 40 miles from home we decided to stay the night. Today as it was such a lovely autumn day, with sunshine and blue skies we decided to go to Holker Hall which was not to far away. It is located about 2km to the southwest of the village of Cartmel, and is the home of Lord Cavendish and his family, who actually live here. There is only a small part of the house open to the public but there is many very interesting things to see. The gardens are also beautiful to walk through.
It is a long time since I have been in the house but I do remember that it was very interesting. The garden festival in the summer is a good day out.

A beautiful building set amongst the trees. It must have been a lovely setting for a wedding.
