Sunrise over Newcastle (-under-Lyme)

Final day of my stay in Staffordshire today, where I have been on a Safeguarding Adults course at Keele University. I haven't relaxed and enjoyed the adventure, but have managed to breathe and let the grip of panic release a bit. Gutted to be missing the final lecture, by one of my heroes (Margaret Flynn, author of several adult Serious Case Reviews), but wanted to leave and get back in daylight and minimal traffic. (A bit pathetic, but true!)

How appropriate that as I arrived home the news broke of 3 care staff receiving (disappointingly short) jail sentences for abuse of elderly residents. A timely reminder about why I do my job and what really matters.

So sad that these so called "careers" can do this to vulnerable people.
Love the beautiful sunrise along side the smoke from the chimneys

Stunning light.

I thought they were short too (and I'm not at all of the hang em and flog em brigade, but it was a pretty awful abuse of power).
