@agavegirl13 - Thank you Karuna! I went down by the pond and spotted him hanging on a leaf. I moved in closed and did a couple shots. He just sat there so I moved in closer and got this.
Wow! Excellent focus with crisp details! Marvelous colors and tones here! I love the texture in those wings! Like the delicate netting on an old fashioned tea hat!
@marlboromaam _ Thank you so much Maggie! But what puzzles me is that three of the wings are in focus except for the tip of the upper left wing. Go figure?
@lynnb - Thank you so much Lynn!! Dragonflies are a busy bunch. I Googled to see how many varieties of dragonflies there are. According to Wikipedia there are 5680 species which makes for a whole lot of photographic possibilities! I just learned they are valuable predators that eat mosquitoes, and other small insects like flies, bees, ants, wasps, and very rarely butterflies.
