Our church held the first ever chili Cook-off last night. There were 13 varieties to sample and vote on. In front of each pot of chili was an empty bowl in which each person in attendance was to place a marble in the bowl in front of the chili they liked best. It was a fun night!

Thank you for all for your tremendous comments and fav! It was a fun evening. This was our last picnic of the year, but when the picnic shelter was being cleaned on Tuesday evening the mosquitoes were terrible from all the rain we've been getting. The temperatures dropped Thursday night to 65F (18C) which might have caused the mosquitoes to go into hiding, but we didn't want to risk it. This was the most well attended picnic of the year! The variety of flavors and styles were wide spread. The first one used a lot of habaΓ±ero peppers. Most were lightly spiced and a few weren't spicy at all. There were a few who said with all the spicy chili in might have been better to have held it outside where it was cooler.
