Driving home when I turned on to our road I spotted this sapcicle being backlit by the sun. I loved the golden color of the sap and the light.I backed up and took a couple shots
What a cool capture! I'm glad you stopped to take this picture. Congrats on the tending page. Well worth it for the uniqueness of the image. Now I want to wander and find one too!

Thank you very much for being part in this making it to the Trending Page and now I just noticed the PP! Again I never expected this kind of response.
I did not notice what kind of tree it is. I identify trees mostly by their leaves and they are all gone. As I took the picture I remembered in Jurassic Park the curator, John Hammond, told those first visitors which included paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant that they extracted dinosaur DNA from mosquitoes trapped in amber to recreate the dinosaurs. I didn't check this to see if there were any trapped mosquitoes.
Great image! Such rich amber color! Good eye to "see" it and take time to photograph it for all of us to enjoy! I noticed this is your 4th year! I'm a "newbie"----eager to learn from you and others! Hoping to get images critiques to help me improve my photographic skills!
@sunshine365 - Thank you very much Helen for your kind comments and follow!
@rwhite - Thank you for the "Wow" Rosie! I have seen sap on trees before particularly cherry and pine trees, but I as well haven't seen one of these before either.
Hi, Thank you for the Birthday Greeting! Appreciate it! Not exactly sure how to "reply" to comments----I'm a "newbie" but I honestly did look at the Q&A section---thank you kindly!
Thank you all once again for your great acceptance to my photo. I wasn't expecting this. I just made up the word, "sapcicle". It was made by sap from this tree and with is being and with is being cold it created this. While it warmed up I am surprised that it was enough to get the sap flowing in the trees.
Thank you for your gracious comments and favs! That is what caught my eye Paula, the bright amber color.

I looked at the tree yesterday and this was completely gone. Now I wonder if tree sap gave it this color or just minerals from the tree. The sapcicle originated at the base of a hole in the tree where a branch once was and now there is a hole where the tree is attempting to cover the hole with bark.
FAV for me.
