My son-in-law use to put out feed for the deer during winter. My daughter has continued the practice. At first any movement or noise in the house would spook them. Now they aren't so skittish. Tonight there were at least 11 and maybe as many as 16 that came for dinner. With frigid temperatures returning tonight and tomorrow they will be around a lot!
@calm - Racoons do tend to make nuisances of themselves and takes the fun out of life for many. They have raided our feeders. But with the frigid temperatures they are holed up someplace.
Oh, what a lovely story and beautiful photo! I'd trade one day of short sleeve shirts for a gathering of deer like this one! Aren't they beautiful?! (OK...now I'll trade back!)
