Iris Is The Greek Goddess for The Messenger of Love
Her sacred flower is considered the symbol of communication and messages. Greek men would often plant an iris on the graves of their beloved women as a tribute to the goddess Iris, whose duty it was to take the souls of women to the Elysian fields. ~ Hana No Monogatari, from The Stories of Flowers
My wife and I went for a walk at the park. I was excited to see these up!
I never knew that about these types of flowers. Aside from that, this is a very beautiful shot. The composition and details that you have captured are truly beautiful. Fav!
Interesting info, thank you, I hadn't heard of that aspect of Iris - she's also the goddess of the rainbow, btw.
Nice dof and you've caught the lovely veining in the petals really well.
Gorgeous capture of this beautiful Iris!!! The purple ones are my favorite of all the colors!! I didn't know the story behind them and think it's pretty awesome!! FAV!

Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments you left and the favs! I used my Tamron 70-200mm with a 20 mm extension tube. The yellow green back ground is the sun lit grass, which surprised me that it looks this yellow since it looked much greener on the camera preview screen.
