Relics From The Days of Rock and Roll

This building once housed four radio stations. WPIC is an AM station the others FM. In the days of rock and roll during the 60's, 70. and 80's many from the area were entertained from this very building. WPIC is a talk radio station, WYFM is a classic rock station, WWIZ is a rock station, and WLLF is a sports station. All are owned by Cumulus Radio. This old building has been declared unsafe so they have moved to a new sight even though the WPIC tower is still here. WPIC signed on the air October 25, 1938.I thought I'd get a picture before the building is gone and only a memory.
Fantastic picture.

Thanks for sharing the picture and the story. Those were the days when great beat groups cropped up. Their music is still live today.

@danette - This station used to offer classes for getting into radio. I briefly considered it, but didn't pursue it as I didn't feel I had the gift of gab. I never considered a behind the scenes position.

@sangwann - I am glad it clicked with you. Music did play a huge part in my growing up. Many things I have gone through in my life I can connect with a song from that period. Just the number of outstanding groups and music that came out under the Motown label is phenomenal. And for all of this we owe our thanks to Guglielmo Marconi.

What a great story of this building. Too bad they can't fix the structural issues.
