I found this cute, fuzzy caterpillar today and when I started taking shots, it curled into a ball. I love all the fuzzy spikes! I used a Nikon 40mm macro lens for this shot.
Great close up. Love the detail in the spiky coat. This is a wooly bear caterpillar. In New England we look at them in the late summer or fall to predict the type of winter we will have. If their coat is light and mostly brown, we will have a light winter, as I predicted for this past year. If their fur is heavy and mostly black, look for a cold snowy winter. This may be an old wive's tale, but I have found it to be pretty accurate over the years.
This is so amazing! I first thought it was pipe cleaners with that little wire showing in the middle of the fuzzy chenille parts. but it is a c. pillar?! WoW! Great shot and a fav!
