Chrysler Building  by soboy5

Chrysler Building

The Chrysler building is my second favorite skyscraper in Manhattan, and the finest example of Art Deco architecture of all the world's skyscrapers. For a brief year, it was the world's tallest building and was Chrysler Corporation's world headquarters from 1930 until the mid-1950's.

I took this image from Queens, looking over the East River.

P.S. I am going to be somewhat "off the grid" for a week or so, with very limited internet access and no computer. I will try to post more New York pics while I am gone if possible. When I return, I should have some interesting images from Mexico!
Great cityscape...fav!

@boogie Thanks, Mags.
@peterdegraaff Thank you, Peter - glad you caught that little bit of irony. I waited quite a while to get the boat in the shot, I think it was worth the wait!

@jackie8 Thank you for the nice comments!
June 11th, 2012
This is tremendous. i'm going to be fussy though. I would love it so much more without the boat. Your B+W is so crisp, the focus so amazingly sharp and the buildings just pop out of that sky. I lovel the Chrysler building. A world icon.

@seanoneill Thanks, Sean. I actually waited for the boat to be just in the right place as I thought it would add quite a bit of visual impact to the cityscape. Appreciate your comments!
June 17th, 2012
@soboy5 Just goes to show there is no right or wrong in photography.
June 17th, 2012
@seanoneill :) Agreed!
