Here is a closeup of this magnificent clock tower, which was fully restored in 2006. It is constructed of heart of pine wood topped by a copper cupola. Atop the dome is an eagle with an eight-foot wing span. The clock has a bell attached to it that rings on the hour. It operated with counterweights until it was electrified in 1943. Before this change, someone had to climb to the top once a week to wind it!
