Here is the evolution of rear end styling from the C2 Corvette (1963 - 1967) to the C3 (1968 - 1982). The C3 Corvette Stingray had sleek and modern "coke bottle" styling inspired by the Mako Shark II show car of 1965. The rear end featured a Kamm tail, which was not only dramatic in its appearance, but was also very aerodynamic (the Kamm tail was changed in 1974 due to 5 mph bumper laws). When parked side by side, it is easy to see how the C2 and C3 share Corvette DNA. The chrome bumper C3s are some of my favorite Corvettes.
