What a difference a year makes: the 1961 Lincoln Continental was completely redesigned with clean, crisp, modern styling. Compared to its excessive, over-styled predecessor (see yesterday's image), the iconic 1961 Continental was 15 inches shorter and much better looking. Featuring rear suicide doors and a four door convertible model, this Continental represented the very best of American automotive design in the early 1960's and is highly collectible today.
There was, sort of a neighbor that lived one street over from us, who always drove a Lincoln. I can remember the continental tire on the back of his automobiles. Then one day he bought himself a new one and there was no more continental tire on the back. Because of this man's love for Lincolns I have has a penchant for Lincolns.

OHHHH how I alway loved that logo. My dad worked in the Wixom Michigan assembly plant and made the Lincoln Town Car, for a short time in the 60's the T-bird, Continental and the Mark. I so loved it when my dad got to drive one of those beauties home for a day.
