After a late night back from the airport last night and an earlyish start this morning I wondered if I was going to get a shot at all today. I remebered this little station "Pitsford & Brampton" near Northampton from a visit to a hotel from a while back and took a quick walk there before my day's session. These old locos are sat on the tracks under wraps - I'm guessing to be refurbished, though some of them have definitely seen better days!
Tried this shot with HDR treatment but it really didn't need it so stuck with a light tone map and some contrast adjustment to get rid of the horrible white sky!! alternative shot from the station http://365project.org/sparkle/alternative-365/2011-04-14
Good day with a zip back down the M1 to Stansted and a flight to Dublin and drive to Naas. The internet in the hotel is painfully slow - i've tried to catch up on commeting but I'm really tired, so apologies, but thanks you all so much for all your great comments and favs AGAIN! it really is much appreciated. Tomorrow another long travel day and limited access so I'll do what I can!!
The round tops and wooden sides are really awesome. I think all the train cars in the US are rectangular metal and have been for years. They can be taken off the train flatbeds and converted to semi trailers. This is so much cooler.
Fantastic processing! You've taken what should be a kind of mundane object and turned it into something special and beautiful to behold. You really captured all of the textures and colors well.
