We set off for our trek this morning in more heavy rain than yesterday - another 19km walk planned, this time a little flatter, to a pretty lagoon at the base of another glacier. I didn't even bother getting my camera out until we reached our destination at lunchtime - it was cold, miserable and damp and in fact I was lucky to get this shot at all - I have plenty with massive raindrops splattered across the lens! We were meant to have lunch here but we opted for scoffing a sandwich whilst we walked back to our lodgings! The sun did eventually start to appear 3 hours into the walk back and by the time we'd nearly hit civilisation we were nearly dry again. Nothing else for it but a big Calafate Ice Cream, a hot shower and a big fat steak in the local microbrewery, washed down by local ale! Off to Chile tomorrow so hoping that the weather is better on the other side of the Andes!
This taken at the glorious glacial view with fabulous mountain backdrop! It was as cold as it looks! The alternative shot for today was in brighter conditions coming away from the clouds of the burnt out forest destroyed by a careless tourist http://365project.org/sparkle/alternative-365/2012-03-16
Camera low here & a superb low down shot !! Must have been very invigorating all that cold & brisk walking, loads better than lying on a beach !! Lovely photo Juliette !
