Was meant to be in Wales this morning but I managed to get it cancelled late last night so enjoyed another day working from home! Not sure where the day went, did a pile of work but still not through the list of things to be done! Packed up at 4pm and shot off to the swimming pool for a quick half mile workout. Hit the road to travel to Leeds and stopped off in Godmanchester to check out what looked like mad flowing rivers from the motorway. Sure enough, the rivers were spilling over, the park area was covered in water http://365project.org/sparkle/alternative-365/2012-05-02 and the waters were forging through the sluices and nearing the point of overflowing the bridges! Liked these little houses backing onto the river.
Wanted to catch up on commenting tonight but an extra wide load travelling up the A1 at 30mph has meant a rather late arrival to the hotel :o( will try my best to get to you all soon
@dmortega nice link, thanks Dorrena. Not fish, I think they were little eddies from the currents of the fast water coming round the bend from underneath the bridge I was stood on!
Even with the threat of the swollen river, this shot is magnificent, the tiny village houses with the thatched roofs, and the weeping willow leaning out over the river all make for a great post-card.....A Big FAV!! on this one!
You really have a 'nose' for finding photographic places and then turn them into materpieces! Reading about your busy days, heaven knows where you find the time!! Marvellous, love your shots!
Cool shot, the river round here is a tad swollen too :D
Lucky you having a day working from home, for me that meant either sitting in my pants all day or watching about 3 films at the cinema
I go through Godmanchester regularly but have never seen these lovely houses. Time for a dog-walk perhaps. They must be worried about the old bridge up there is the river's that swollen. Even more rain last night (the 2nd) so those poor houses could be wet now. @fueast Yes they do have a hosepipe ban but Cambridge City doesn't because we are supplied by Cambridge Water not Anglia Water - weird!! BUT Cambridge Water is very good - they are used to drought conditions.
This is an amazing photo. So British and quaint - it makes me think of Beatrix Potter and her drawings around the English countryside. Lots of details to look at: the houses and the water, the boats and the willow, the thatched roofs. It's a big Fav for me.
