Abandoned

photo 253
It was such a beautiful day, I decided to head for the river to get something with color. Once I spied this sneaker wedged in the rotting pier, I decided to go for texture rather than beauty. This section of the river is where homeless people are known to frequent at night. It made me sad to see this sneaker, as it looks like it belonged to a child. I didn't edit this photo to make it look this ugly. It looked this way on its own.

Wow, cool shot. Weird to see moss growing on it.

Can be distressful thinking about it...great closeup shot!

Really great close-up. Sad to think what the story might be there.

I was surprised to see how clean the show strings looked. You always find the great shots. Really cool.

The last two lines of yours here cracked me up. And the first few made me sad....I feel so sorry for homeless people. This shoe sure has taken a beating...just the way people do from living outside 24-7. So sad.

Intriguing shot.

@dawnirwin I was surprised to see the moss on the sneaker, too, Dawn - it must have been there for a long time.

@bdb3471 @adeakinyede Thanks for your comments, Brian and Ade - I was a bit distressed to see a child's sneaker in that area - espcially with all the homeless people around - you'd hate to think it belonged to a homeless child who was living there.

Myrna - the laces were are bit frayed - could have been the sun bleached them out. The red on the sneaker was pretty faded.

@sunnygreenwood @bobbyj Thanks, Anne and Booby - I always expected to find some kind of aquatic life iving in there!

@shanne As soon as I saw your photo, I thought the same thing - "We're both doing textures!"

wonderful shot; took me seconds to realize what i was looking at so i saw it as much more abstract

It's being reclaimed by nature. Maybe you can convince yourself that it was an adult's and it's shrunk?!

@debbim @kbuehl @stresshead @pyrrhula @karens68 @robinwarner Thanks, Deb, Kathy, Clare, Pyrrhula, Karen, and Robin. The sneaker was filled with textures - even moss growing on it! It still bothers me that it was a kid's sneaker. I found this in a really terrible area of town - not safe at all

@judithg Yes, Judith - Nature has reclaimed the sneaker - even covering it with moss! And, no, I can't convince myself it was an adult's sneaker - it definitely belonged to a child! :(
