Hermitage of Poggio Conte

During Easter I visited the San Pietro Church in Tuscania and there I was addressed to the Hermitage of Poggio Conte.
When I go to Porto Ercole I love to explore the surroundings and find new places to visit. So, finally we could go to the hermitage and it was a surprise.
We had to follow a path leading into the forest with some little wood bridges and then we arrived to a clearing with a waterfall and a creek.
A stairway partly digged in the stone let us to go up to the hermitage.
In the middle ages it was a place of worship but its origin is probably more ancient. I understood why the hermits used to live in places like that: it's one of the more peaceful place I've ever seen.
Before to get back home there was another surprise: the water of the waterfall hitted by a ray of sunlight created a little rainbow.
