It rained last night and the tracks were a little muddy, about 40 mins later there were grey clouds threatening over the berg . It started to rain just after I made it home a little mud splattered but not wet.
Change in wind overnight so the scuba diving changed into mountain-biking
@trude That's the gradual incline prior to this is what we call long hill and just after this is heartbreak hill and with all the mud today it was hard work
I like how you've done this. What I don't like is all the trees that've been hacked down. Couldn't they just do every 2nd or 3rd one and then plant another non-alien species in its place. Now all the top-soil seems to wash away when it rains...
@digitalrn@melissapike Its a red clay and it get rather slippery when wet ,you can imagine what we look like after a day of wet biking covered from head to to in mud.
@kloud It was and still is, a very controversial topic over the years Bonnie the land the pine plantation covered was leased to the timber company ,it has always been a working plantation with restricted access to the public ,about ten years ago they started allowing bikes limited access and at that time there felling routine was they would take out trees in strips and replenish with saplings...this area has now been proclaimed part of the table mountain world heritage site ... fynbos Eden's,so all the trees will be removed and the fynbos will eventually reclaim the slopes over a period of about 30 years. The biologists in charge claim there will be minimal erosion...I have a lengthy opinion to the contrary.
@sebella These are part of the spiderweb of biking, horse ridding and hiking trails that cover the mountain slopes up behind Tokai..The access is behind the Tokai manor house which has featured in a couple of my pics.
Great shot, Howard. You are a real sportsman. Yesterday I tried to weigh myself after a long period and found my wieght had increased by some 4 kilos. Will have to make an extra effort now to get back.
sorry to have missed this. this is like "top of the world" who cares about the view in mount everest? this is just as spectacular, mud, clouds and blue sky with trees, rocks and a little greenery thrown in! you can reach God from here, too. fantastic shot, howard.
