Very nice shot. They are relatively rare her in Southern California. We do see them occasionally. But then again, we do not have as much water here as you do there. This one seems to be displaying his neck/chest feathers for some reason. Perhaps he was trying to impress you. Fav.

Wow, I've taken quite a few blue heron photos but never one from this exact angle. They look so different with their beaks (bills?) foreshortened like this. Great angle.

it is hard to see where the other leg went. Really love the angle showing the fan of wing feathers down each side.
