Day 322, Year 2 - More Ealing Light Trails

So I guess I am getting into light trails, given today's upload, and the last two days photos.

My Joby Gorillapod is really becoming a favourite toy so I am using it a lot along with my X100.

And I always love light trails, and in this shot the long shutter meant I got all 3 traffic lights at once :)

I think I need to try and make some more shots which are very clean and neat and tidy.
I think trying to choose settings which are iconic rather than this street just outside my house, even though it's convenient, is good visually, and then try and work out how to capture trails which seem a little less random. I'm enjoying the practise though :)
Super shot. I am enjoying reading your comments on getting the most from your x100. At the moment I shoot with an old entry level DSLR (Canon t2i) that I need to upgrade, but as I find myself moving more and more towards street photography I think my money might be better spent with upgrading to something more portable and less noticeable, so I fully appreciate what you have to say about the pros and cons of your camera.

@ukandie1 Hey!
Glad you're enjoying the comments...it's interesting this whole talk about DSLR, or Compact System Cameras, or Bridge, or this and that...one of my favourite discussions by the way :)
I've been really thinking hard about getting rid of my Canon 7D and going all in for the Fuji X range - perhaps an X-Pro1 or the XT-1. But it's a big cost, even if I get money for my 7D body.
But what the pro's are even saying is that you have much less kit to carry, the lenses are gorgeous and the RAW files are so lovely, way better than from my 7D, especially at high noise.
You have to just weigh up the pro's and cons and I think there is always a little compromise, as there is no perfect all-round camera/lens kit for everyone.
The Fuji's really are lovely, and the files are gorgeous. The f2 lens at close range (street photography for example :) is really nice, but it's fixed at 35mm width so there's a compromise.
The X-Pro 1 is a lovely camera but I hear it can be fiddly, and it takes a little getting used to. But, the pictures I have seen are awesome.
Set a budget, and go play with a few of them to see if they are 'your cup of tea'!
:)

@ukandie1 @stevecameras Interesting discussion.....I ditched my Cannon 650D, although I loved it I found it too heavy & bulky for the type of photography I liked best. I wanted a camera I could take with me when shopping & have onn me at all times. I went for the Olympus Compact system & invested in E-5 Penn. I bought a view finder & I have three lenses. Not cheap but I find it incredibly portable. The electronic veiw Finder comes off & with a pancake lens it's pretty much a P&S size.
I am learning more all the time so can't answer any in depth questions but I like it. On the recent London meet up last Saturday I noticed the size of cameras had gone smaller & there were quite a few compact systems although I wis I had asked more about their cameras & not talked too much!!
