Day 311, Year 4 - Monochrome ZigZags At Caister by stevecameras

Day 311, Year 4 - Monochrome ZigZags At Caister

This is Caister-on-Sea near Great Yarmouth, and the famous zig-zag groynes that are quite popular among photographers.

I wanted to try an alternative composition partly for the sake of it but also the wind was very strong and the sea spray was really harsh coming left to right.

I quite like the angle, and the colour was quite punchy but I was picturing the moody black and white conversion as I was taking it and I quite like it.

It's actually two shots, one of the moving water using my Lee BigStopper (15 seconds) and one of the sky, around 250th of a second without the ND filter.

I would like to go back and get more of this location...these zigzags are great fun to shoot.

Another shot from here back in March is here:

3 good things:

1 - Good fun taking pictures at Hopton and Caister with a pal from London
2 - Speaking to Alexis on the phone in the evening
3 - A chilled evening watching movies on TV
I really like the zigzag in this framing. :)
The blend works really well too. I wondered if it was IR at first.

Strong photo, Steve. Also really like the alternate take from April that you've linked to -- it's almost luminous.

Good work.
