Abandoned WWII Blimp Hangar

Tillamook, Oregon is home to one of the few remaining WWII blimp hangars in the United States. There were two hangars here - one is still in operational use (pics to follow), the other is this one......which burned down in 1992. Most of the times with my abandoned photography, I don't know the "story" - don't know what happened to the structure.....what caused it to be abandoned...but this one is an example where we know what happened: http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19920824&slug=1509062. I'm glad they left the concrete structures standing...what an amazing piece of our nation's history.
What a very interesting part of history for sure
