Haul Out

This picture is the opposite of yesterday's beauty! But it was a necessary stop. Hauled the boat out of the water to do maintenance before heading further south. I promise a pretty picture tomorrow!
I like this! wow you 2 must be having an absolute blast!!

It's a beautiful boat - do you still have it? I can't remember if you told me before. ("I can't remember" is a big part of my vocabulary these days... haha)

There's nothing wrong with this shot. I think it's a beauty, too!

No apologies for such a picture! It's fascinating (as a non-boater) to see what it takes to maintain this lifestyle! Care to share how the name of your boat came to be?

Thank you for your comment, Louise! So, you want to know why we named our boat "TOBIAS"? When I met Kirby I had never been camping - in a tent, on the ground (well, with a blow up mattress). He took me to the mountains and I fell in love. We went as often as we could. We were sitting by the fire when I asked him to marry me!! And then for our honeymoon, we gathered up all the family and loads of friends and did a 3 day camping trip all together. Tents everywhere, lots of coleman stoves and quit a few little personal outhouses surrounded us. When we left California to buy a sailboat on the opposite coast we knew we would miss camping. So we took a piece of it with us. Our camping area where Kirby had been going since he was 2 years old was called - TOBIAS CREEK! There - you have it!

Sue, no we don't have the boat anymore. We sold it 2 years ago and we do miss the life very much!

Love the story of the naming of TOBIAS!

Ooh, fun (or not!). I love the story behind the name Tobias. It's always interesting to hear the inspiration behind boat names. Looks like Kirby is taking on the ever-exciting task of repainting the bottom. We just did ours this weekend in preparation for launch (they said they'd have us in sometime this week). I always forget how heavy bottom paint makes the rollers... my arms were killing me! I promise to post some pictures as soon as she's in the water.

What a wonderful story about your boat that really was the story of your marriage! That was just exceptional; I loved it! Thanks for sharing, and now I know others will enjoy reading this as much as I did.

I have to say, though, that when I read your next comment, it struck me like a little death! You'd never said you'd sold the boat! How do you travel now? How far do you travel, and where in the last couple of years? You two certainly are the outdoor adventurers! Again, a wonderful story!

My dream always involved a 38' two master called a Tahiti Ketch. If you don't like your neighbors weigh anchor and move away. I love wooden boats!

A very nice story as how you and Kirby decided on the name of your boat. this picture looks all too familiar as i know boating from a different standpoint of view. we used to own a marina and i saw lots of boats come and go including sail boats and yes we had an area where boat owners could work on their crafts.
