Final Approach

My office is across the street from John Wayne Airport - yes, there is a John Wayne airport! And you can take your photo with The Duke if you wish - a statue of the old former resident anyway. When I saw airplanes getting ready to touch down cast against the snow-capped mountains I had no choice but to capture one.
it's fun trying to capture these animals! they're so fast they're gone before you know it! great capture with the snow-capped mountains as background. aces!

That's always one of the things I loved about Orange County in the winter. You can see the snow covered mountains!. Nice capture Ron!

Very nice, it looks so surreal with those snow capped mountains in the background.

Nice capture, and nice view from your office location!

Nice capture and not a bad place for an office with a view like that.

That's one rare photo right there. What a catch. You definitely have your camera at the ready all the time, don't you.

Fantastic capture!

@summerfield Ah, it wasn't to much of a challenge to be honest. I can watch planes land and take off all day from my desk. Maybe that's whey I don't get much done at work! Thanks for the uplifting comments!

@joysfocus Thanks, Joy. Yep, it's one thing that we don't get to witness enough. Hardly got this view at all last year, but this year's offered more opportunities.

@888rachel Thanks Rachel - there's a difference of about 55 mile (88 km) between that plane and those mountains. See, the air is sometimes very clear in LA!

@clake @onewing Thank you ladies, I am indeed fortunate to have a prime vantage point from a fortuitous location. As I state above, it can get distracting when I'm supposed to be getting work done!

@opticlens Thank you, Sarah!

@pcoulson LOL, Peter. Yep, when you fly into JWA I'll be right there to transport you to Disneyland (in my one-seater car). ;-)

@simta Спасибо Татьяна. У меня есть этот вид весь день от моего стола! Но видеть горы с снег, как это часто не получается.

@lyndemc You bet I have my camera always at the ready - you too! To be honest, there are multiple opportunities for such a capture. It's a busy airport, so getting the planes is easy. Getting them with snow-capped mountains is just a matter of waiting for a good storm and hopefully a clear day following. Oh, and a good telephoto - and an awesome office view..OK, maybe it is rare. ;-)

@Weezilou Thanks, Louise! A bit surprising to see it as a TP selection - I thought it was a bit mundane, but what do I know? It is fun to show off the OC once it a while.

@gilbertwood Thanks very much, Denise - I do appreciate it!

@stray_shooter One seater car we will have to travel light then, what is it can only think of a indycar or nascar manufactured in the States?
March 4th, 2015
@pcoulson It's actually a two-seater - I guess I was thinking that there would only be one additional seat available. Must have been late and following a few Jack & Cokes. Oh, how I'd love to have an Indy Car to run around in though!
