Tearful Goodbye to the Holidays by stray_shooter

Tearful Goodbye to the Holidays

As I was preparing the replace the poinsettias on the front porch with the normal shrubbery, I noticed that the recent rain had left some great droplets on the fallen leaves. Naturally I had to grab the camera and capture the image. I love the reflections you get in droplets and if you look closely in the closest droplet you can see the reflection of the front of my house. I think I need to clean the gutters.

What I learned in taking this photo: Sometimes you just have no choice but to revert to the Auto setting. I am forced to use an adapter for the Sigma lens on the Sony camera with the Nikon mount (I seem to be solely responsible for supporting the Japanese economy with that assemblage), resulting in the loss of critical manual functions.
awesome focus. aces!

Wonderful winter scene -- and such clarity on the droplets -- clearly this was a case where auto was useful.

Nice pop of red and terrific droplets!

Very nice shot. Nice reflection in the droplets

Beautiful with its detail, the little droplets are fascinating the way they cling to the leaf, but are still perfectly round, fav

@summerfield Thanks Vikki. Now a secret - I had to manually focus the shot since I was using the adapter. My vision isn't that good, and a large number came out not quite as well focused. I got lucky on this one.

@aglennc Thanks Anita. I hadn't noticed my own reflection in the droplets until you mentioned it. Oops!

@photographycrazy Thanks so much Bill. Would love to have seen what you'd have done with the shot.

@jin1x Thanks - I believe you can learn something from every shot. Thought it might be useful and sometimes fun to share.

@Weezilou Thank you Louise...and Ken too! Something about the poinsettias seems to make the water bead up nicely like that.

@joysfocus Thanks so much Joy!

@jorlam Thank you, as I responded to Vikki, I had to do this all manually, and fortunately this one worked out. I can't go anywhere without the reading glasses.

@winshez Thank you Sherrill. I do favor red coloring in photos....and somebody has to make up for the departed Osia. ;-)

@taffy Ha ha, yes Taffy, I know you have been through the experience where you just have no choice but to go to Auto. It's a defeating feeling. Thanks for the comments. :-)

@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian, I appreciate the nice comments.

@joannakate Thank you kindly, Joanna. Something about the poinsettia leaf allows the water to ball up nicely, just for us photographers1

@yoke Ha ha, I presume that's a complement. Never had that comment before!
