Towel Please

The meerkat was taking a little burrow break. I think he was looking for someone to clean his face up a bit. How's that for a catchlight?
That's definitely a good catchlight Ron.. love his whiskery face, they are so cute..

FAVtastic capture :)

Love the way you have used a tight focus with a shallow depth of field to bring out all the detail in the face, and catch light in the eyes to, great capture Ron:)

You didn't offer to clean up his face? Haha. Great shot, really like this shallow DoF!

These characters are some of the best entertainers at the zoo. Great frame-filled pic of this one.

@cottiac Must agree Cottia. The little buggers have so many naturally cute poses. They always seem to make for a good photo.

@joannakate Thanks Joanna. Thank God for autofocus! As quickly as they move I'd never have gotten that in focus in manual mode!

@aglennc Thanks very much Anita. Great seeing you guys again, and looking forward to LA!

@gilbertwood Thank you Denise - and for the fav too!

@pcoulson Thank you kindly Peter. Once again, I was pretty much forced into the shallow depth of field. I was actually just wandering by the meerkat area with no photo intentions when this guy popped up and pretty much demanded to be photographed. All I had handy was the 70 - 200 zoom with a 2X converter. Being only a meter or so away my focal length was pretty much at its limit, and a shallow DoF was the result. As I stated above I'm very grateful for the autofocus function!

@cjphoto Thanks Chris - see above for my explanation of "accidental" depth of field. Wasn't intended, but kind of worked out. Sometimes it works that way!

@runner365 Thanks Claes. I appreciate the compliment. I do enjoy photographing animals. So much easier to work with than people!

@lyndemc Thanks so much Denise. Funny, I didn't really know much about these guys before last year. One of my meerkat shots made Top Twenty last year (my first one, in fact), and I found them to offer great opportunities for fun photos. I know what they are now!

Thanks Louise. I noticed they were all hidden away when we passed by on Tuesday. Too bad.

@pamknowler Thanks Pam - gotta love dirty faces, no? I appreciate that you stopped by. :-)
