Rose Bowl Worthy

What's up long lost followers and friends?!? I'm back for another year....probably with the usual gaps, but intent on completing as much as possible throughout the new year. Missed you and all of your great photos tremendously and it's good to see and hear from all again.

Today I thought I'd feature a big red rose. In the U.S. here, the Rose Bowl is a big deal New Years Day football game and accompanying parade with all of the floats constructed from roses. I didn't make it up to Pasadena for the parade or game, but I did make it to my back yard where far fewer roses reside. A little out of the ordinary for me doing a monochrome, but I kind of liked the contrast.
Hi Ron! I’m sitting here watching the Rose Bowl, what a glorious American Institution it is! So good to see your post pop up, I’m glad you are back! This is a lovely rose, with the monochrome background, fabulous.

Welcome back, Ron! Lovely rose - and I am so jealous because we are in a deep freeze and up to our knees in snow!
Wishing you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!

Great to see you back! And a terrific start! I was there for the Rose Bowl once when I was about 16 -- decades ago. Still will never forget it!

Welcome back. Seems a few of us are trying to get back into our projects. Love selective colour and such a fantastic subject to use it on.

Brilliant one to start the year lots of lovely detail and bright colour, just as a point of interest its not a monochrome image ( Monochrome is a photograph executed in black and white or in varying tones of only one colour) your is a beautiful (SC) Selective Colour image, let start as we mean to go on Ron welcome back, lol, Fav:)

@joysfocus Thanks Joy, it's good to be back. Hope I can live up to that zany reputation. Tater and Scooter are just awesome and they thank you for asking. I predict you'll see a few photos of the boys before too long. Am I to understand that you have been through somewhat of a life change? Congrats!

@tunia Thanks Tunia, yeah we all seem to get busy with life as the year goes on and somehow Jan 1 seems to be a good time to rev it back up again. Hope I'm more of a regular throughout the year.

@stray_shooter Yes! Been through a lot of changes in 2017. Went to New York and avoided terrorists. Visited Louise and Ken in Nova Scotia and what a wonderful trip that was! Got married in November to one of my best friends from high school! Now live in the pines of Amador County. Looking forward to a 365 get-together with Louise and you and everyone whenever we can make that happen. I really miss my friends in southern Cal and the San Diego Zoo. Glad you're back. P.S. re: Flamingo Friday:There are no flamingos here in Pine Grove but there are deer and squirrels. Perhaps I could get them to dress up in pink costumes. I have some extra feather boas laying around.

About bloody time you started back. How did Purdue(?) go in the football. An automatic fav for your first shot back but you will have to earn them from now on. LOL
