This past summer I had the task of hosting 300 or so of my closest friends (not exaggerating) in Southwestern Colorado. Every year several of us who ride the Harley Road Glide model bike gather somewhere in North America for a week of riding, socializing, and perhaps sharing a cold one or two - only after the riding is done or course.
One of my cohosts and I were exploring rides that we thought the attendees might enjoy, one of which was a visit to the iconic town of Telluride. You'll see this view often in television commercials and in various photos (but not often with two beautiful Road Glides in the foreground).
I took this photo, jazzed it up a bit, and used it to publicize the event. It worked.
This is an amazing capture which truly captures your attention :) However, i really must question the statement of 300 close friends!!!! FAV for the scene - and the bikes of course :)
I bet it worked! I admit I had to give up with the Harleys after a severe back problem - the riding position is completely incompatible with my sciatica... Great motor, though.
Absolutely everything about this shot is perfect! The composition with the Harleys in the foreground and the yellow centre line acting as a leading line up to the mountains, your exposure and lighting, and finally, your marvelous processing!
It makes a wonderful poster!
Well done and a FAV!
@lyndemc Yeah, it grabbed a lot of peoples' attention. We had many more people show up than what we had originally planned for - that's a good thing, though. Thanks for the comment - and the fav!
@taffy Thanks Taffy, I think in truth it's a little overprocessed. That's OK for its intended purpose, but if I was presenting it to 365 only I think I'd have toned it down a little.
@harbie Ah, you being a lucky resident must know this scene well. I skied there every winter for years....back when it was still relatively undeveloped. Thanks for the comments - and the follow!
@gilbertwood It's true! The people that have been coming to this event, eight years running, are all very close and we've all bonded in a unique way. Being the host this year, pretty much everyone comes to know you - in ways you'd never expect! Thanks for the fav!
@domenicododaro It did indeed work - I'd like to think that it was due to my publicity attempts, but in truth I think most were drawn to the beautiful area that features great riding. I suffer from sciatica myself, but the love of riding is too strong to make me quit. So I've become quite familiar with the epidural spine injections. Agonizing, but worth it to continue the riding. Thanks so much!
Thanks to you... I noticed that the typing corrector switched "motor" for "photo" in my former comment... Well, it worked, however! Great photo and great motors. I am now riding a BMW GS1200... much less emotion, much more German pragmatism!
@domenicododaro I have to admit to being a little curious about that comment as not many people praise the V-Twin. However, the new M8 motor, and I've got the 117, is pretty impressive! The GS1200 is an amazing machine. I know many who ride one and they always leave me in the dust. :-(
It makes a wonderful poster!
Well done and a FAV!
