Buddha

"Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”
(Buddhist quote)

Inspiration came from my garden again today.
Love the starkness of the image and matching words.

Gorgeous B&W image. Love the contrast between the white statue and the black background. Paired perfectly with the Buddhist quote.

Love those wise words indeed. Beautiful Buddha!
July 30th, 2013
Definitely a difficult thing to do, in fact how often do we actually concentrate the mind on the present moment without it darting off somewhere else! I'm definitely going to make more effort to try! Super shot I like that it's not quite b&w.

Lovely quote Ian --- great comp

This is so beautifully composed, Ian. I love the contrast of the light statue against the dark stones and the drops of water add that extra something to this shot. The quote is like the cherry on top- great job! Fav

@onewing thank you Babs, it is indeed particularly difficult to achieve, but I think we'd all benefit from being able to manage it at least now and again :) The garden is a new creation this year, I'm trying to transform a courtyard area into a kind of modern zen / Japanese space as I find the concepts of these gardens to be beautiful and calming. It's not quite there yet, just like a photo sometimes, when the image you had in your head doesn't quite match the one in the camera.

@paulaw very rarely any of us really manage it, although perhaps sometimes through photography and looking for pictures we inadvertently do so. I liked the not quite b&w version too, I tried the traditional b&w but I preferred the blue tones that were left in this one.
