Boats at Bewl Water

A chilly windy day at Bewl Water today, but the boats were still out in force - sailing, canoeing, fishing, windsurfing and a water taxi across to the other side of the reservoir. I was there with my grandchildren, and would have taken the water taxi to the other side but thought they would probably complain about the 6 mile walk back!

The reservoir was constructed in 1973 by flooding the valley of the River Bewl, and is now the largest body of water in SE England. You can walk around the perimeter, which is 13 miles. Today a marathon was taking place, which entailed running round twice! Rather them than me!
That looks freezing! Lovely deep colours.

The sky has loads of character, nice shot - and I enjoyed the background info.
