snow-capped desert mountains by summerfield

snow-capped desert mountains

somewhere north of las vegas about 40 minutes away from san francisco international. my knowledge of U.S. geography is rather scant, apart from naming the names of the states and their capitals. but not long before we reached our destination, i opened my window and saw a vast stretch of desertlands, all brown pure earth with nary a tree in sight. when i looked at the screen in front of my seat, it showed we were somewhere north of las vegas. what really struck me was how barren the land was and yet at the very edge of what i could see were mountain tops laced with white that i would presume is snow. i might be a tad stupid with geography but what i know is that high up there in the mountains anywhere in the world it's too darn cold that snow is not at all uncommon. anywhere i fly, i make it a point to enjoy what's down below and appreciate the beauty of our mother earth. and sceneries like this never fail to make me want to kneel down on my knees and pray for the beauty i am honoured to witness.

okay, enough drama. all i wanted was to share with you this shot. :-P

there were quite a few things i forgot to bring with me (so much for taking time off to prepare for the trip), like for example the blouses i intended to wear, the alternate dress for the wedding, my hairbrush, and my tripod. blouse i can buy (thankfully they have tjmaxx here). dress for wedding is sufficient and if at all i can raid bestie's closet or even goddaughter's closet. hairbrush is easy enough to obtain maybe. but tripod? what idiot am i to have forgotten it. damnitall! but hopefully goddaugther have more than one so i can just borrow. and to think i bought a new one last month especially for this outing.
You are definitely above it all. You will be fine. I'm the type that would never carry a tripod. But then again I don't photograph weddings. This is really beautiful.

I adore window seats on airplanes. If you were over the Nevada/California divide these could be the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Enjoy your trip! A wedding! Wonderful!

I love your tales about your comings and goings, always something special there. I am sure you will manage perfectly and have a wonderful time.

Wondering how you would have managed to set up the tripod for this shot anyway! It is superb and I am impressed that you know as much as you do about the United States geography. I think I would be woefully Ignorant in your country.

Cool shot.

I'm not too fussed about their name/s, but I do like the shot very much. My knowledge of US geography is very sketchy anyway. Bummer about forgetting all those things though. As a resourceful woman, I'm sure you'll find a way to make-do.

Spectacular scenery

spectacular. I have no idea how people manage to get such shots from an airplane. I always see a dirty window and half a wing. Obviously not paying enough for my flights.
