the lake had been beckoning me to come for several weeks now. this is the third day this week that the sky started as clear blue and today it was actually pleasantly warm. i thought i'd walk over to another part of the boardwalk. i donned my blazer and my scarf just in case i got cold. i don't know what came over me but i decided i'd take a boat tour. it was almost 1:30 and the boat was to board at quarter to and leave at quarter after. i joined the qeue and called my boss that i was going back from lunch late, very late, as i was going on a boat tour of the islands.
took almost six hundred photographs; at one point i had to change my battery. i didn't know that a big part of the islands was a bird sanctuary, nobody's permitted to get near them and any boats, kayaks, or tour boats had to stay in the middle of the channel or they get fined $10,000!
at one point of the tour, i turned around and saw this scene of the toronto skyline with that gorgeous sky as a backdrop and reflected on the waters of lake ontario. i unconsciously let out a loud "wow!" and everyone turned and started taking pictures, too.
an american tourist, whom i noticed at the qeue was staring at me, sat beside me and tried his darndest to pick me up. he acted as if we were together, draping his arm on the back of my seat, then leaning to point something for me to look at. but all i could do was ignore him as i was just taking pics all this time. at one point, while i was standing by the rails, he stood behind me and rested his hands on the rails on either side of me and whispered "how about drinks after the tour?" so i told him, drinks is not included with the tour. later one of the couples taking the tour told me the guy was taking photos of me with his blackberry, but he always got the back of my head. they knew at the outset that i was not with the man, as they had been watching me taking photos around the boardwalk prior to boarding the boat. we were laughing.
sooc except for the name tag. thank you for your kind views and comments; know that they are so much appreciated.
I'd be a bit nervous about that and would tell him to bugger off, actually! I didn't know there was so many islands there on the lake! Good for you being impulsive. Hope we will benefit!
ha.....well you GO, you sexy woman you! lol...sorry...it's a creepy story...glad that other couple was watching out for you. On a better note, i LOVE LOVE LOVE that you just felt the water calling you, so you extended your lunch time.....just went with your heart (and camera) and ended up having a wonderful afternoon! YAY YOU!~ and i love the pic
Oh, I envy your afternoon. Well, not the stalker dude, but the blue sky and water and following your gut. Love the picture, imagine it was hard to choose 1 to post
@mikegifford - new yorker. :-) was here for the yankees game with the blue jays. thanks, mike.
@jsw0109 - awww, jeff, you are so nice! thank you!
@sticksandstones - guy could see my wedding band, in fact he was looking at it at one point while he tried to engage me in conversation. sometimes i don't know if i should get insulted or flattered with guys making a pass at me. partner said maybe he thought i was a young woman. hahahaha! thanks, kiddo.
@maggiemae - my actions clearly told him i wasn't interested and didn't want to be bothered, i tried to be polite but brief in conversing. maybe he's too daft to read body language. the upside is that i took almost 600 photos, the other downside is most of them are soft or blurry - i should have my eyes checked and get new glasses for photography. thank you, maggiemae.
@pandorasecho - i haven't gone through all the photos yet but i noted some were blurry. something's amiss with my eyes, i see sharp when it's actually out of focus. it was such a de-stresser, the boat ride. the weather was the culprit, i couldn't resist it so i just followed my gut. thank you, dixie.
Incredible shot and I truly love the title, it says it all. How lucky to see Toronto from such an angle, no wonder you said wow! The story about the guy made me cross. What right has anyone to assume they can come into your space uninvited? Grrrr, don't get me started. I do love your intriguing stories though :)
Beautiful shot! Boy, you do have a way of attracting those "creepers" as my students used to say! You should have turned the camera on him, taken a shot and then told him the law firm you work for would be contacting him.
@olivetreeann - that's why i didn't want to colour my hair anymore, i want to grow old in peace! :-) towards the end of the boat ride, he asked what i do and i told him i'm a criminal lawyer and i just had a client who killed two people and that i'm trying to relieve my stress. partner just about passed out from laughing when i was telling him the story!
@silverlight - relax, girlfriend! the views and the beautiful weather were enough to make me ignore him. had he followed me, that would be another matter and i'd have called my friend at the police station. thank you, cheryl.
@sturnus - thank you, carol. it didn't affect me so much as i was more engrossed in my photography. i'm good at ignoring people and letting them know without words. well, that's what my friends say about me. :-)
Fabulous photo! Interesting story to go with it! Las Friday I went on a boat tour in Waterton. It was spur of the moment too. So much fun and amazing scenery. I bet you would have enjoyed it more had that man not made a pest of himself!
Wonderful capture and what a story. You should have called @k1w1 and I and we would have thrown his phone overboard. I am so glad the couple was watching over you.
@jsw0109 - awww, jeff, you are so nice! thank you!
