it's march 12, do you know where your children are? on march break! and if you're in toronto, you must be missing the Christmas carols, the holiday decors and all because we had a blizzard since this morning and everywhere you turn it's winter wonderland!
then wanting to photograph something more exciting, i thought i'd walk down the boardwalk and see what the blizzard looks like in there. well, duh, it's a blizzard, what did i expect, a confetti of flowers? and oh, boy! it was the height of the blizzard when i went, whirling wind, blowing snow and before i reached the boardwalk which was four blocks away from our office, i was almost looking like mrs. snowman. my red wintercoat was all covered with snow! and walking back, i saw a family on their way to the air canada centre and the little girl did a double take and i heard her ask: "daddy, why are the lady's eyes frozen?"
and my poor camera! oh, the poor thing was covered in snow and i heard the lens whizzing when i had to focus. yaiks!
so this was the boardwalk. i ruined the snow by walking all over it. normally you'd see the islands in the horizon, not today, kiddos. almost zero visibility, the island airport was closed and all flights cancelled. the specks you see aren't specks but whirling and/or blowing snow flakes! behind the chain/rope is the lake water, with thick broken ice sheets, from the numerous times the lake has frozen and the ice breakers made way for the ferries' routes; they didn't even have time to melt as this new blizzard prevented them from melting.
I think the cold is finally leaving down here and I am so happy for it. I am meant for the warm weather; I can't imagine blizzards and snow in the Spring! It is beautiful though!
Excellent and snowy viewed large! I love it. I wish we had had a bit more snow and winter t his winter. It is getting cold tonight, but it has been in the high 60s and low 70s lately. Oh, dear - it seems to be never-ending! I was going to query whether your lens got snow all over it with the wind as well as the snow! You got this picture rather well, though!

@maggiemae - by the time i started walking back, the camera was all white with the snow! we're going down to -19 tonight and very cold tomorrow but apparently we're expecting +9 on friday. at least the ice will melt before the weekend! thank you, maggiemae.

In mid Feb I finally went somewhere to see snow (real snow! Not the snow we [rarely] get here that's always melted by noon). It was the first time I ever saw it and it was beautiful. :) I had a lot of fun just walking around stepping in it :P I got to experience 3 snowstorms in 6 days. hahaha
My nephews in Toronto are complaining about the blizzard too. Which makes it pretty ironic because some 5 months ago they are so excited to leave the tropical Philippine weather to finally experience the snow,
Oh poor you!! Now we had the bitter cold and wind today BUT we also had sun and blue skies. That made it at least bearable. I think if I saw this much snow again, I'd need anti-depressants!
