from the tropics to the north; from wonderful summer to the dread of winter.
the icestorm in december 2013 certainly brought a lot of devastation, not only on people's property but also on plant life, especially around the city. age-old trees could not bear the weight of the ice on their branches that in a number of cases, their trunks also gave way. lots of devastation especially around the city. in the midst of that chaos, though, if one looked closely, there was an unusual beauty that emerged. photographers - amateur, hobbyists and professionals - lugged their cameras around and braved the dangerously slippery streets and pathways to capture the beauty emerging from that devastation.
this tree teemed with its beautiful red berries, its branches overhanging the sidewalk. with ice enveloping everything in sight, the branches were crackling from the weight of the ice and the assault of the bitter wind.
taken handheld because the tripod slipped away from me as i was setting up and i couldn't move or i'd slipped and i wasn't only concerned about breaking a joint but also breaking the camera.
huge thank you for your very generous favs and comments and views on my last two posts for this challenge; i am very flattered and honoured.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
As someone who seldom sees snow, let alone ice covered trees, thank you so much for capturing this upon threat of grave peril to your personal body! It was worth it indeed! So worth a FAV!
this is so, so, sooooooo beautiful, great job without the tripod. ice is so scary, is it not? fav, Vikki, now, this is something i would hang on my wall, simply adore it.
