monday was international day of happiness. i didn't even know there was such a day of celebration. in any case, the management of our office building put up a large poster on a wall at the lobby with different colours. everyone was invited to fill out a coloured sticky note and write one's happy thoughts to stick on the poster. as a lark, going home, i filled a neon orange sticky and wrote
"chocolate
cheesecake
day at the beach
days off work
cheesecake
godiva chocolate
did i say chocolate?"
and stuck the note on the orange part of the chart. a passerby was reading all the notes that had been previously pasted on the chart and after i stuck mine she read it and laughed.
last night, just before i left the office at 6:30, my phone rang. i was told that i had won one of the 4 prizes for the day of happiness event - they had chosen my 'happy thoughts' note. so this morning i remembered to pick up my prize. to my surprise it was a $100 gift certificate for any of the stores in the building.
i rarely ever win anything but to win this from a silly little note, that indeed brings me happy, as that would buy a lot of godiva chocolates, n'est-ce pas?
@farmreporter - yes, there's a godiva shop right there in the building. there's also a big LCBO store opposite. but i think i will spend it at the source as i need a new portable drive. thank you, wendy.
