ex-flame, who invited me to dinner last night, gave me flowers (no, not these) and took me to lunch today. i sort of guessed that he would call because with a gazillion people at the dinner last night, we hardly had a chance to talk much.
one of the things we talked about was the ongoing annulment of his marriage. he and his wife had decided to go their separate ways; she wanted to marry her high school sweetheart and spend the rest of her life with him. my friend said he had been "flying solo" for almost ten years now. they have two children who are now both married and have their own children. my question to him was, if their marriage gets annulled, wouldn't that make the children illegitimate? you see, in the philippines, there is no divorce, instead there is annulment. annulments are applied with the courts and the church. annulment is tantamount to the marriage having not happened, so the children's status would then change. apparently, that is not the case.
in my final year in high school, i wrote a long article about the merits of divorce in the philippines. i remember the marcos government was making overtures about a divorce law, but of course, the powerful cardinal sin (yes, sin was the name of the cardinal, wasn't that ironic?) being the representative of the vatican, had put a stop to the idea. after i had migrated to canada, that annulment shit became legal.
(and yes, ex-flame asked, but i told him that as a matter of principle, i don't "go back", thank you very much.)

for the current technique challenge (white on white).
Love the way this white on white accompanies the narrative, Vikki. And my deep consideration for your life philosophy!
PS sadly, Sin is would be the right name in quite a few cases of cardinals, recently...
So very pretty! Very nice composition with perfect exposure and lighting.
Such an interesting commentary - makes you wonder how Man has completely made 'religion' so strange. I am sure that is not the way God intended it to be.

The name of your cardinal cracks me up!
