the big drummer boy

i went to watch the airshow from the harbourfront. got a good vantage point but quite far, however, i deliberately chose to do that because the last time i watched the airshow in 2014, a team of visiting planes made a spectacular show of circling the CN tower. i was in awe of that spectacle but even with my camera in my hand i don't think i got a good shot because as i said i was in awe and i just watched with (i'm pretty sure) my mouth open. i had a good view of the CN tower today so i thought i'd stay put. but of course, this time, that didn't happen, however, the canadian snowbirds did fly past the tower and i got a shot albeit askew (in my excitement)!

after the airshow, i just moseyed on down around harbourfront, having switched lenses to the 50mm for the challenge. passed by this young man and after putting in a few dollars in his bucket, i took a few hurried shots.

things i've learned yesterday and today. i no longer trust the auto focus of my lenses. i've not been using it anyway except for the kit lens that came with the D5300. my nikon 50mm is totally manual and after a disappointing excursion yesterday with the canon's 50mm that has an auto focus, methinks i will stick to the nikon 50mm, except for when i do still life at home.
I like this street scene. It looks like it was a glorious day and how can you complain when there's entertainment? Top it off with a photo op and you have a perfect day And nice composition from your vantage point

This is a good street scene -- I like the way the red jacket in the distance gives us a sense of depth. Good focus on the drummer.

I love street photography but not always brave enough to get the shot I want. Pleasing cours, composition and story here.
