i think this is a mazda mx-5. it's shape is almost similar to the miata i was driving when i was in muscat, oman. whilst waiting for the bus last saturday, i had my camera on hand; lights were north of the southbound stop so i could case the cars that were coming. then as the lights turn green, i point my camera on the road in front of me and the cars just zoom into my frame.
i used to like driving small cars but when i got to drive a mini van, i don't like small cars anymore, especially something like this. i like the security of the van's height, i can go head to head with trucks on the highway with confidence.
my first driving instructor back in the old country was a racing champion. ugh, i forgot his name now but he was a friend of the first mr. summerfield. the first mr. summerfield hated the way i drove so he hired that instructor to "refine" my driving. he made me drive to the race track which was in another town and we had to take the highway. i was trying to impress the instructor -and he was suitably impressed until we reached a lull in the traffic and slammed on the brakes and the hood of the car ended up just underneath the back of a large 16-wheeler. "do you see where we are?" he asked. i said, "yes, we're fine, just as long as the truck doesn't back up." he got out of the car, walked around the back, opened my door and told me to scoot over and he would drive until we get to the track. when he told the first mr. summerfield about it, he wasn't impressed. although i passed my licensing exam in one go.
I have to fave this for the story as well as the shot. I'd love to have one of these pocket rockets as my 'second' car (if I ever had a second car, as it were).
