the other side of town by summerfield

the other side of town

went to the dentist yesterday. got curious what was at the end of the bus route and found this place. i know i've been here before but until i took the bus i didn't know where this place was.

actually lugged with me the crystal ball as i found it in the linen closet the day before i was to fly to san francisco. i also found US$20 with it which i forgot to bring with me on the trip.

in any case this crystal ball is both a curse and a blessing. it attracts people who tend to chat you up out of curiosity. sometimes i don't like talking to people but i have to be polite and answer questions. then there are people who wanted to touch the crystal ball, especially children. and then there's the dogs, especially the big playful ones - made me nervous because the ball was sitting on the tripod and if it got toppled over, it could fall over to the rocks and there'd be no way to retrieve it. so i didn't have time to be more creative, i packed up and left. next time i bring the ball, i'd bring a wingman, too!
A wonderful view nicely framed. It sounds as if you had an exciting day to say the least. It sure made a great story.

Beautiful shot and as I happen to have a crystal ball (or several) I may need to copy your ideas...

Oh so well done

I like how you have framed the tower. I hardly ever use my crystal ball - mostly because it weighs a ton!

Great shot - I too have a crystal ball but forget to use it!

I really like your diptych with the crystal ball. I keep planning on getting one, but never know which one to get. There are so many choices. Do you have a special tripod for the crystal ball?

@henrir - no, just a normal tripod. i remove the plate that attaches to the camera's bottom and place the crystal ball which thankfully has only a small stand. during the day, i only bring one tripod for the crystal ball but at night, i would've needed two, one for the camera and one for the crystal ball. this ball i used is 20 cm around. i have a smaller one that is only 10 cm around. thank you, henri.

This is fantastic. I love the juxtaposition of the two images -- very effective composition.

Both photos are nice on their own. I'd love to see the view in the ball by itself.
