"Imitation is the sincerest [form] of flattery."
- Charles C. Colton
this week, for the vision category of the 52-week challenge, the challenge is "flattery" and we do this by imitating the art or technique of our favourite photographer.
when i went to spend Canada day at my friend's in Hamilton, one of our planned activity was to go to the Art Gallery of Hamilton to see the Vivian Maier exhibit. so this shot may have been an unconscious nod to Vivian Maier's great works that i yet had to view the next day. of course, i have seen a few of her photos online but seeing them framed hanging on walls gave me quite the thrill and inspired enough to get going with this photography thing. although i don't plan on doing mainly street photography, her story and her work remind us that we never know when our day of fame may come. in my case, probably not, although i am a score ahead of the lady as my photos had been exhibited and sold whilst i am still alive.
what a great start - you framed yourself beautifully. My one was also done before seeing your Vivian maier post and following it through. Glad you are inspired - I will most certainly enjoy what is to follow - and though it is unlikely that I will get to any exhibition that you may have unless it travels extensively (who knows?) I will certainly continue to enjoy your on-line exhibition.
I really like this. It is every bit as worthy an exhibit as Vivian Maier. I think you just may be on your way to fame. I did enjoy looking at her photos when I googled her. I was most impressed with the fact they were film photos. We are so spoiled with digital and knowing if we have gotten the picture we want instantky.
Very impressed with this selfie and pleased to know that somewhere I have not only your signature but a letter over it! Now all I have to do is remember where I put it! When you become famous it will be worth lots of money!
