these are fallen leaves that had been caught in the base of the fountain at the st. james cathedral park. the water droplets caused by a brief rainfall made the droplets sparkle if you shoot from the correct angle.
for the 52-week challenge's wildcard segment this week (photographer's choice), the attraction for me of this image is the droplets of rainwater on the floating leaves, the way the light of the cloudy afternoon gives them a different look from what they actually are, which is attained depending on the angle you take.

my sister and i went yesterday to see the movie 'a star is born". it was quite impressive, the acting, the music and the voices of the two protagonists were unbelievable. i didn't like bradley cooper until he impressed me when i watched an interview of him in a french talk show. didn't like lady gaga either as i thought she's one self-absorbed young person just out to call attention to herself. but my impression changed when i heard her voice. even more impressive was her performance. although i consider myself a pretty good judge of character (okay, my record isn't impeccable in the last two years, given) i'm always reminded by what my mother used to tell me: you don't judge a book by its cover.
i've never seen any of the previous versions of the movie. obviously i didn't know about the very first one; i am probably one in a million who never liked judy garland, sorry. in the mid-70's i refused to watch the babra streisand version because i am a big fan of la streisand as a singer, not as an actor.
the new "a star is born" though should be retitled "a f***ing star is born" as the dialogue of the entire movie is abundantly rife with the f word.
This photo is stunning! The variety of colors of the leaves, the shimmering droplets of water, the contrast of nature against the asphalt... beautiful image!!
Kris Kristofferson was worth seeing the 70s version of the movie! š„š
Terrific composition and color in this photo. I like the definition of the drops that you have captured.
LOL your comment about judging character. Good to know about the movie. I had thought I might watch it but Iām not sure I can get through the language.
Those leaves look as though they have been arranged especially for their photoshoot! And yes they sparkle like jewels. Hope you are doing OK (miss a few weeks here and you feel you have missed great chunks of people's lives as well as their wonderful photos). I hate that - when the f word takes over a whole dialogue.
