it's just an empty shell by summerfield

it's just an empty shell

but it holds the sound of the waves of an entire ocean.

pretty soon i will have to get rid of my stuff. i have a box ready to be shipped to my sister. sometimes i wish i have only the basics and not a dozen bath towels or four change of bed sheets. i have all sorts of glasses and i only drink from a couple of them. i have wine glasses of all shapes and sizes and i don't even drink wine anymore. i have shoes in boxes piled higher than me; two full wardrobes and...well, i still work and there are four seasons where i live, so let's leave the wardrobes alone.

over at five plus two, the theme is paper dolls. i was at a loss as to what to post. i tried the last two days to draw paper dolls but i found that my drawings are terribly horrible. far cry from when i was young when i used to make a lot of paper dolls and even had the ambition of becoming a dress designer. i even sold a few paper dolls with their beautiful dresses that i drew. well that was fifty some years ago, something happened to me along the way.

but would you believe, i actually have a book of paper doll cut outs in one of my book shelves. i must've bought it for little ivy but forgot all about it after ex-partner and i parted ways. i also used to insert money in the pages of my books, a habit i had since i started working. and so tonight, desperate yet again for a shot for my five plus two post, i found the paper doll book and even better was the $20 inserted between its pages. am i a lucky so and so or what!

i can't share the $20 with you but i can share my photo: https://365project.org/fiveplustwo/365/2019-01-16
Yeah, you’re a lucky so and so — also a very talented and creative so and so. Lovely on black.

Great low key image.

I did something a little similar but very, very crazy!! I found $4,000 I had hidden under the carpet. I saw this lump when I was cleaning out my cupboard and there it was! We bought a safe after that...

Are you moving? If you've already told us, I've forgotten sorry.

It is very pretty and the patterns really pop with the lighting you have used.

Such a lovely low key image of that shell. How nice to find a bonus $20. I feel your pain, we ended up throwing nearly everything out last year, so much so that I had to buy replacements - so I'm down to two lots of bedding for our beds, and all my clothes easily fit into one small wardrobe and a chest of drawers, and we have four seasons here too - which means I do need more clothes. But what to make? office smart or smart-casual or casual-casual.

I’ve always loved the sound of the ocean in shells. This is wonderful on black. Money in books! Very cool.

You are a wonderful story-teller. Well done to discover $20, always handy. Why do you need to get rid of stuff? Are you moving?

When you give up photography you can get rid of things. In the meantime you need to keep the props so you can have these wonderful photos!

Beautiful low key photo of the shell. I love your narrative. I think we all have way too much stuff.

I've missed out somewhere - you're moving on? Thanks for the fascinating story - I'm not at all convinced that your talents have left you behind in any respect. You have so many stories behind you, and so many more to come.
